DESCRIPTION: Crustose. The podetia of this common species are grey-green with cups held atop long cylindrical stems.  The surface of then podetia is finely granular. The apothecia are on the margins of the cups and are brown. Basal squamules are numerous but often rather small and hard to see. Chemical results:- K-, P+ rust-red, UV-. DISTRIBUTION: Widespread and common throughout. HABITAT: Found on rotten wood and soil, usually on disturbed sites and in association with mosses. Can also be found on heathland and dune systems.
